Suffolk Factory

<   >

project no: 1101
location: Haverhill, Suffolk
year: 2011
client: private
budget: 300,000

A factory refurbishment and 1,500m2 extension accommodating new offices, training and worker's facilities for a manufacturing facility in Suffolk. We took the existing 2,000m2 double shed and added an extra structural bay which we split into a triple pitch building. Offices, workshops and canteen take the larger parts and the central 'shed' houses the circulation and social areas of the building, clad in a stained timber traditionally used on industrial buildings locally to break up and humanise the facade.
A level of abstraction was used on the facade and in the finishes of the building to ennoble the simplicity which stems from budget limitations.
